Egypt Tours

Officially known as the Arab Republic of Egypt, Egypt is globally famous for its ancient civilization, and some of the most magnificent monuments of the world, such as the Giza pyramid complex and its Great Sphinx, the Valley of the Kings, etc. Egypt is one of the top ten most popular tourist destinations of the world. No other country of the world comes even closer to Egypt in respect of the number of ancient & magnificent monuments, most of which are situated along the river Nile. Egypt is one of the most populous, and prominent political and cultural nations of Africa and the Middle East. Egyptian culture has over five thousand years of recorded history. One of the several reasons why Egypt remains such an exotic and fascinating tourist destination is that it is very much a country in flux. Egypt has the greatest number of Nobel Laureates in Africa and the Arab World.
Located very aesthetically in the north-eastern Africa and southwestern Asia, Egypt is bounded on the north by the Mediterranean Sea, on the east by Israel and the Red Sea, on the south by Sudan, and on the west by Libya. Less than one-tenth of the land area of Egypt (about 1,001,450 sq km) is settled or under cultivation, and almost all the population is concentrated along the banks of the Nile (notably Cairo and Alexandria), in the Delta and near the Suez Canal.

Boasting of an ancient culture of over five thousand years old, Egypt is the most populated country in the Middle East and the third most populous on the African continent, with an estimated 75 million people (as of mid-2008). Most of the population is concentrated along the banks of the Nile (notably Cairo and Alexandria), in the Delta and near the Suez Canal. The major ethnic groups are Egyptians, Bedouins, and Berbers that form about 90% of the population of Egypt. The Religions are Muslim (mostly Sunni) 94%, Coptic Christian and other 6%; while the official language is Arabic, English and French are also used.
The currency is the Egyptian pound (LE). Current rate of exchange is $1.00 = LE 3.4
A historic and glorious land of magnificent World Heritage Sites and a thousand tourist clichés, there are globally renowned monuments everywhere in Egypt. Though Egypt is famous worldwide for the Pyramids of Giza and the Valley of the Kings, but these ancient monuments are just part of the equation. The pointed perfection of the Pyramids of Abu Sir, majestic tombs and temples of Luxor, and soaring minarets of Cairo’s skyline, are just a few of the wonders that generations of visitors have greatly admired during their city sojourns, jaunts up and down the Nile, and enriching expeditions through spectacularly stark desert landscapes. No doubt that Egypt has been among the top ten most famous and popular tourist destinations of the modern world.
Most of the enthralling Egyptian attractions are lined up along the river Nile, and therefore, these can conveniently be visited by taking a cruise in the Nile river (besides road and air travel). Since it is a prominent and popular tourist destination Egypt offers extensive facilities for global tourists.
The most prominent and popular tourist destinations and attractions of Egypt are - More than 80 Pyramids situated close to the Nile river, the most famous pyramids being the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx; cities of Cairo and Alexandria; Abu Simbel; the modern town of Luxor, famous
city of Thebes or the city of a hundred gates; Siwa Oasis which is famous for its dates and olives, and is one of the most enthralling landscapes and springs in Egypt; Karnak Temples; The Valley of the Kings, situated on the west bank of river Nile, and contains 62 tombs.
Egypt could be said to have six different tourist super-sites.Each has its own flavor, and mostly each serves a different purpose. Surprisingly, or perhaps not, most of these tourist areas do not depend on ancient monuments to sustain them. In fact, only Luxor is completely dependent on this trade. These super-sites consist of:
Cairo, the capital and the largest city, is the most modern in the Middle East and Africa. Cairo has been renowned for centuries as a famous center of learning, culture and commerce. The most popular tourist attractions in Cairo are Khan al-Khalili market, Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, and the Pyramids of Giza. Cairo is the best city for the shopping of brass, copper, and inlaid wooden articles, leather shoes, silver and gold jewelry, bags and belts, cotton goods, and oils.Cairo, is also known as the Jewel of the Orient, the City of the Thousand Minarets, and the Melting Pot of Ancient and Modern Egyptian Civilizations. Cairo lies at the centre of all routes leading to, and from the three continents: Asia, Africa and Europe.
The second largest city and the main port of Egypt, the city of
Alexandria is a prominent cultural, intellectual, political, and economic metropolis of the Middle East. Alexandria is one of the most notable summer resorts and white sandy beaches & enthralling scenery in the Middle East. The most famous tourist attractions in the city of Alexandria are Pompey's Pillar, Bibliotheca
Alexandria, King Farouk Palace, Alexandria National Museum, and the Roman Amphitheater.
It could in fact be argued that this area extends to Marsa Matruh to the west on the coast. The area has a Mediterranean feel about it, and the attraction is the Mediterranean Sea, and to the people of Cairo, a somewhat cooler climate.
Luxor, and the surrounding area.Luxor is a living museum with vast numbers of ancient Egyptian monuments. It is also highly oriented to tourists, and might be thought of in the same regard as a theme park, where the attractions just happen to be real monuments.
Aswan and the surrounding area. Aswan is probably the least of the super-site tourist areas, but has great hotels, along with the huge Lake Nasser just to the south.
Hurghada and the surrounding area, particularly El Gouna. Not to far apart are El Gouna, Hurghada and Safaga, and these areas contain just about everything a tourist would like to have, with the exception of ancient monuments. They make up for that with every variety of water sports, several golf courses, casinos and more. The Red Sea area has less of an Egyptian feel, but not as European as the Sinai.
Sharm El Sheikh, and the surrounding area including Sharks Bay. This is the Sinai super-site, again with most everything any tourist might wish. There are even some wonderful Christian monuments nearby, and the water sports, as at Hurghada, are all inclusive.
This is not to say that there are many more tourist destinations, particularly on the Red Sea and in Sinai, and on Egypt's mainland interior, the oases. However, in much of the rest of the mainland interior, travel and destinations are limited. However, the tourist super-sites encompass perhaps ninety-five percent of the ancient monuments, and most else there is to do in Egypt.

Secondly, there will likely be some form of entertainment each evening which may vary considerably from tour to tour. Hopefully one such venue will include a sound and light show either at Giza or Luxor. Tours such as this will usually include some "rest time" that can be spent visiting a few other monuments or other activities. Frequently, a part of the tour will be by Nile Cruise Boat, which in itself is an experience that should not be missed.
